INFORMATION & DISCLAIMERS

RING SELECTION:

All rings are hand crafted by me. I either have in inventory or have sources for any variety of U.S. and World coins, with multiple dates to choose from. You can request to ship me a coin that you own or purchase and I will make your ring out of it. Each hand-crafted ring starts with a hand-selected circulated or proof coin depending on your specific request. Using techniques mastered and developed over time, the coin is molded into a ring, while retaining the coin's unique details inside and out. The coin ring is sized, cleaned and finished prior to shipping preparation. Depending on what you order, and with exception of coin year, bandwidth, heads or tails detail out, and ring size, your ring will look similar to what is on display. I have the ability to both craft the traditional Flat Tire look or the Swedish Wrap look in any ring. With the Swedish Wrap method, I am able to make smaller ring sizes using larger coins. Remember my coin rings are made by hand with circulated coins, unless otherwise stated on the item, thus slight wear and imperfections may be noticed. This is normal and to be expected. You may request a patina or polished finish, but please keep in mind that the patina will eventually rub off in time. How fast that occurs depends on how often the ring is worn, and how active and how much you work with your hands. Each ring will come with a polished finish unless otherwise requested when ordered.

RING SIZING:

Coin rings are typically sized by the outer edge or what is called the “reeded” edge of the coin. There is always a slight taper. This is because the reeded edge of the coin is thicker than the center of the coin. The reeded edge will become one of the outer edges of the ring when finished. When the ring is measured for size, we go by the end of the ring with the smallest diameter to determine the size. This is typically the reeded edge of the coin.

I really want your ring to fit comfortably, so I strongly recommend that you get professionally sized before ordering your ring. Please see the chart below for possible sizes and bandwidths.

DISCOLORATION, MEDICAL OR ALLERGIES:

Coins have a variety of metal content. It is best that you pay close attention to what a coin is made out of in consideration of your purchase. Before you purchase you should consider if you have or may have problems with discoloration, medical or allergies to the metals coins are made of. Copper and Bronze coins make some beautiful rings. Experts say that there are several metals that oxidize with your skin to give you a noticeable green ring around your finger. A ring made of copper is a common culprit; even silver and gold metals can cause discoloration. The severity of any discoloration reaction is dependent on your body chemistry, oils or acids in your skin, or chemicals you may place your hands in. Rings that have Patina applied can slow down this process, but not for long, and that’s if the Patina doesn’t cause the problem all on it’s on. The stains are harmless and can be removed with soap and water. Coins with a low copper content do not normally cause staining. Nickel is a frequent cause of allergic reactions. Many clad coins today have copper, nickel, zinc alloys mixed. There is no way to be 100% certain how you might react to a certain metal until you wear it. There are methods to prevent the discoloration, like spray on lacquers, finger nail polish, etc. This creates a barrier between your skin and the metal, so that the ring can’t turn your finger green, however it discolors and flakes off over time. When that happens, you have to reapply your solution of choice on your own. I do not deliver rings that have any of these methods applied. This would be your sole responsibility if you choose to do so.

DISCOLORATION DISCLAIMER:

If you purchase a ring that causes discoloration to your skin, I will not be able to accept a return. For this reason, if you know you might have a possible issue of any kind, I recommend choosing an alternate metal mix, silver or gold coin for a ring. There is only a very small percent of people that cannot wear silver or gold

LEGAL DISCLAIMER:

It is important to be educated about making rings out of coins. A frequent question that comes up is whether it is legal to make a ring from a coin or not. It is important to know that it is not illegal to make a ring from a coin. According to the United States Code, Title 18, Part I, Chapter 17.33, I, as long as you are not altering the coin to commit fraud (meaning altering the coin to sell as legal tender), then it is not illegal. If you have any questions, please Google this subject and do your research in further understanding the laws.
